EMAX Industrial 5HP 2CYL Single Stage 19CFM 60 Gallon Air Compressor – Splash Lube Pump, w/isolator pads
Splash Pump
Operation
Splash lubrication systems work by using rod dippers that pass through the oil in the crankcase when the pistons are moving and splash the oil up onto the cylinders and pistons to lubricate them. Although this method is effective, it’s not precise. Parts of the pump may not be receiving enough oil. Where there is not enough oil, wear between critical components can become a costly issue… on the other hand too much oil can also be in issue as well.
Viscosity
Viscosity of the oil becomes important with splash method as well, if the oil is not thick enough it will not cling to the dippers as needed. So, although effective it is becoming an outdated method.
History
Traditional splash lubrication systems have been around since the first air compressor was produced.
Belt Drive
Our belt driven compressors are driven by V belts that allow you to adjust the pump speeds by changing pulley sizes.
