I purchased a 5 horse 2 stage compressor recently and I have to say that this is the best investment I’ve made in a long time. I build and restore classic 60s and 70s muscle cars here in California and the compressor is used primarily as an air source for glass bead blasting, in line sanders, DA sanders, air chisels, cut off wheels, and HVLP spray guns. It is not uncommon for sometimes 2 or even 3 tools to be used at once. I have yet to run out of air.
The compressor is the hardest working member of my shop and it is quiet too. I bought it with a totally enclosed fan cooled motor and piped in fresh air to the compressor because of the dusty air in the shop. I have been surprised at how little moisture there is in my compressed air now. I think it’s because the 2 stage compressor has air coolers on each stage to precool the air before it’s pumped into the tank.

I bought this pump from Eaton with an 80 Gallon tank over 12 years ago. I don’t use it daily, but run it a fair bit. I change semi tires myself not only airing them up from 0 psi, but running a 1" impact to get them on and off the truck. I’ve literally done 18 in session: Dismount, R&R tire and remount. Compressor never skips a beat. I also use it for every other repair in the shop; mostly on snowplows and 3/4 ton diesels. This thing is a beast. I also live at 10,200 feet, making O2 hard to come by, and ANY type of equipment runs harder and hotter. All I’ve done is change the oil and replaced the unloaders once. Buy it. It’s impressive and reliable as hell! The folks at Eaton were also AWESOME to work with and have always proven helpful if I ever had any questions or needed anything. Only reason I even came back to the website or contacted them after 10 years was to buy oil!!!

I bought this in June 2016 and am very happy with the pump. Customer service was very helpful and knowledgeable. The pump runs so much quieter than the one it replaced. I would buy it again if I needed one.

I’ve had this pump in my woodworking shop for over 5 years. It supplies more than enfough air to even run my 10cfm Venturi vacuum press…and that’s a lot of air. Overall I’m very happy with this pump. It does however run much louder than I had anticipated.

I just got this unit installed in my home shop and I am glad I bought the whisper quiet version. My space has only one door and the shop acts like a resonating chamber for noise. The air compressor is very quiet. I have no hesitation making a phone call while in the shop. When I am within a foot of the air compressor, I need to talk directly to another person but I do not have to yell. When I run the unit in ‘continuous mode’ with the motor on and the pump essentially not, the noise pattern doesn’t change much which would indicate that most of the noise from the unit is not from the pump.
Initial perceptions on quality are very good. I don’t have a lot of hours on the compressor to validate longevity, but many of the things I found missing on other industrial air compressors are there on this one. I was concerned about the ‘motor’ not being named as to which brand when I bought the unit, but I received a Leeson motor to which I am happy.

I bought one of these pumps in 2012 put it in my shop, I have a 10 horse v 4 cylinder compressor at the house, the pump is a Polar pump. I was going to switch air compressors. But the 5 horse did better than I expected and supplied enough air for my shop so I never switched them. If had known the 5 horse would put out that much air, I would have made the 10 horse a 5 horse. By the way the 10 horse with a 120 gallon tank that is empty will pump up to 180 pounds of air pressure in 5 1/2 minnuts, I thought that was very impressive.

This air compressor is amazing. The minimal noise makes using an air compressor pleasant unlike most loud annoying ones. Would highly recommend.

I have my compressor installed and and very happy with this product. Megan in sales helped me get the best option for my needs. At the time of my order the pump was on backorder, so manufacturing and shipping were delayed. Because I knew about it in advance this presented no problem for me.

Bought this 5hp 80 gal ind.plus w/silent air. So much quieter than old 5hp vertical diaphragm model. New compressor puts out twice the cfm. Awesome weighs 620 compared to under 100. Great compressor!

I have had my compressor and dryer since 05 running daily. Other than regular pm there hasn’t been a wrench on my compressor. I would recommend these units to anyone . I wouldn’t even think of buying anything else. If this thing was to ever quit I would bury it in the back yard and buy another one in a minute.

My experience was great! Megan was very helpful and answered all my questions. Air compressor arrived when promised. The compressor was a breeze to hook up! It’s very quiet and I have zero complaints to this point! If I need to buy another compressor, I will buy an Eaton for sure!

I had been in the market for a compressor for my shop for a while, my mind was pretty much made up on a competitor’s model until a friend of mine sent me a link to a video of one of the quiet compressors running. I did some looking and found out that they were made a couple of hours away from where I live in Ohio. I decided to make a visit to hear one of these quiet compressors in real life and see for myself. When I got to the showroom I told the lady that greeted me what I was interested in and she said someone would be with me shortly. After a bit of a wait Matt came out to greet us and started describing the features of the Polar Air quiet compressors. I asked him if I could hear one run for myself. He said sure and took me through the factory and described the various processes that we walked past and gave a short history of the company. We got to a final prep area in the factory and they were finishing up a 10 hp model and he turned it on, I was sold, It was amazing how quiet that compressor was. Everyone that I met and worked with through the process was great. Megan was helpful in the ordering process and she answered every question I had. Two weeks later when it was time to pick up the compressor that I ordered, the experience was the same, everyone was more than helpful. Thank you to Jeff who loaded the compressor in my truck and helped to strap it down. The purchasing and pick up experience was top notch. Overall a very heavy and beefy unit. It would be difficult to find a 5 HP low RPM 2 stage compressor from anyone else with this quality for this price
